The Mabamba Wetlands has an incredible network of channels, connecting various islands and peninsulas that are detached from the mainland. On this tour we combine packrafting with hiking, paddling the tranquil channels with the chance to see incredible birds such as the elusive shoebill stork. We hike the community trails as well as the pristine jungle around Nkima Forest Lodge. The hike gives you a glimpse of rural life and unspoilt natural forest in Central Uganda.

Do you want to make the most of your future packraft adventures? Join our packraft clinic, hosted by some of the best raft instructors in Uganda. It’s a 1-day course and takes place in the wetlands of Mabamba. The day is divided in three sessions. In the early morning we hit the water and get acquainted with the concept of packrafting. During the hottest hours of the day we do a classroom session, getting deeper into the planning side of a packrafting adventure. Nkima Forest Lodge provides a wonderful 3-course lunch. We go back on the water for a packrafting tour on one of the Mabamba channels and who knows we see the elusive shoebill stork! On request we can host a clinic in Kampala.
US$95 pr person including the rent of a packraft, 3-course lunch, water and snacks and a professional packraft instructor. The clinic is guaranteed to run with 4 participants or more.

Everybody knows the White Nile, possibly the most famous geographical feature in Africa and great for water sports like rafting and kayaking. But there are other rivers! In the west of Uganda a beautiful river flows from the gorilla highlands to the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. In collaboration with Sana Gorilla Rafting we organise a 4-day packrafting expedition exploring this mystical river. When using the packrafts it’s mostly flatwater paddling and prior experience is not needed. We may have to walk around small sections that are too rough, but that’s what our 1.5kg packrafts are built for! One day we will swap the small individual rafts for a big raft and navigate the rapids of the Birira Gorge. Who’s up for this epic paddle expedition?
